The pivot to YouTube and eventually TikTok proved genius. Starting Jeffree Star Cosmetics in 2014 with his life savings, he launched with velour liquid lipsticks that became his signature product. His unfiltered personality and dramatic makeup tutorials resonated with millions, earning him over 15 million YouTube subscribers and making him the fifth-highest-paid YouTuber in 2018 with $18 million in earnings. His cosmetics line now generates over $100 million annually, proving that authentic content creation can translate into serious business success.

On TikTok specifically, he's made waves by breaking platform records, including generating over 1,000 orders from a single post. His content ranges from makeup tutorials and product launches to glimpses into his lavish lifestyle, complete with designer everything and a collection of luxury cars. While he's faced controversies and public feuds, particularly with former friend Kat Von D, his ability to maintain relevance across multiple platforms demonstrates a keen understanding of social media evolution. His TikTok presence combines the theatrical flair that made him famous with bite-sized content perfect for the platform's format, keeping his brand fresh for both longtime fans and new audiences discovering him for the first time.
